IS Tripwire Booby-Trapped IED with Grenade Fuze, Libya

Nov 29, 2016

In May 2016, Libya's 604th Infantry Brigade documented their neutralization of an IED fitted with a tripwire-activated booby trap on a road in the village of Abugrein, located on the coast between Misrata and Sirte. The IED comprised three artillery shells and a grenade fuze initiation system. A length of tripwire spanning the width of the road was connected to the grenade. In October 2016, similar incidents involving the same kind of booby-trapped IEDs, fashioned from artillery rounds and fitted with tripwire planted on the main road between Sirte and Abugrein were documented.
