Terrogence was founded in 2004 on what ought to be an obvious idea, but still isn’t quite there yet:
The social internet is not an extension of the world as we know it; it is a virtual world unto itself.
The obvious corollary is that collecting intelligence from the web requires web-specific tools and methods; it is simply not enough to assume that repurposed methodologies and work models from OSINT and SIGINT are sufficient to comprehend the web from an intelligence perspective.
To wit, Terrogence has spent the better part of a decade developing a unique suite of WEBINT tools and methods. As a matter of principle, these have not based off of previous experience with the military or civilian intelligence agencies, but rather off of the actual needs of Web Intelligence professionals at work in Terrogence, in a constant, evolving development feedback loop.
At some point, we realized that we needed a complete system to guide the various aspects of the WEBINT workflow.
To this end we contracted the advanced HIWIRE™ System by webintPro. Since 2011, all the intelligence that comes out of Terrogence today is produced in full on the HIWIRE™ system, from source mapping and collection, through processing and analysis, all the way down to actual pdf report generation.
