TGA0825 – Molnya-2 Fixed-Wing Loitering Munitions with Heavy Payloads Used by Russian Forces

Since November 2024, Russian media and Telegram channels have increasingly begun to feature documentation of the Russian military’s use of the Molniya-2 loitering munition – an advanced version of the Molnya fixed-wing loitering munition. These UAVs are fitted with various payloads, either fully improvised or based on standard ammunition, most notably TM-62 mines. Footage of the successful operational use of the Molnya-2 in the field has also become more prevalent.

There is a growing need for inexpensive, easy-to-assemble UAVs capable of carrying larger explosive payloads, as demonstrated by the Russian forces’ increasing use of Molnya-2 systems. This trend highlights the Russian military’s emphasis on cost-effective solutions that can be rapidly deployed to achieve strategic objectives.
