On March 5, 2025, security forces neutralized an IED array laid on the side of the road on the outskirts of Popayán, in Cauca Department. A motorcycle stolen the night before had been left on the opposite side of the road and was reported as a possible motorcycle VBIED by concerned citizens, who had also noticed a coil of wire near it. According to the police, the motorcycle was planted as a lure to draw security forces to an IED array. The motorcycle VBIED is a common attack TTP used by FARC dissidents in southern Colombia, particularly in Valle de Cauca and Cauca departments.
