On March 8, 2025, approximately ten armed assailants launched a coordinated attack outside the Sungai Kolok District Office in Sungai Kolok Municipality, Narathiwat Province.
The assailants arrived in a pickup truck and a car, opening fire with assault rifles and throwing an IED. One of the cars used in the attack was parked in front of the auditorium entrance. Shortly after the perpetrators fled the scene in the pickup, the VBIED initiated, killing two people and injuring nine others.
The attack, which occurred while on-duty defense volunteers were breaking their Ramadan fast, resulted in the deaths of two volunteers and injuries to nine others, including three civilian bystanders. The explosion caused extensive damage to several buildings within and around the district office compound.
