TGA0896 – Fiber-Optic-Guided FPV Loitering Munition Attack on Oil Infrastructure, Zawiya, Libya

Between August 10 and August 12, 2026, a string of FPV drone attacks targeted high-value infrastructure in Zawiya, northwestern Libya. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, and authorities have yet to identify any suspects. The series of strikes marks a significant escalation in a country that remains deeply divided between competing factions 15 years after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi. While UAVs have long played a role in the Libyan conflict, the recent attacks indicate an evolution in tactics and the employment of increasingly sophisticated capabilities that have not previously been widely documented in this context.
