On April 28, 2022, a natural gas vehicle parked near a cafe in an alley near Al-Majmu’ah al-Thaqafiyya Street, in Mosul, Iraq, exploded. One person was killed in the blast and two others were injured.
Initially, the incident was reported as a technical malfunction that led to a fire and the explosion of the vehicle, but on May 11, 2022, the Iraqi Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency reported the blast was a VBIED attack perpetrated by Islamic State operatives.
