During the month of August 2022, Houthi forces in Yemen held a number of parades in different districts in their areas of control in the south, west and north of the country, to mark the end of the training periods of thousands of new fighters joining the ranks of the various combat and support units in the group’s army in Yemen. During the parades, the Houthi forces presented numerous weapons systems used by the organization’s fighters, most of which are known from use in the country in recent years – the majority from many years ago and some from the last few years. Most of the systems presented were standard items from various state sources – Egypt, Iran, Russia. These included rocket launchers, ATGMs, sniper rifles, and shoulder-fired RPGs of different types with assorted ammunition. Some locally produced improvised systems were also presented, including IRAMs of two different models, and directional charges, such as Claymore-type mines, EFPs, and directionally focused fragmentation charges. Prominent was one of the main attack drones used by the organization in Yemen in the last two years – the Rujoum hexacopter, which, since it was first unveiled in early 2021, has been increasingly employed by the Houthis in the country. As revealed in the military parade, the Rujoum can carry several small, improvised bomblets, or three modified mortar rounds, weighing at least several kilograms.
