During the second weekend of September 2022, southern Yemen’s Security Belt Forces raided Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula camps in several locations near Al-Musaina’ah Town, in Yemen’s Shabwah Governorate. The raiding forces seized various IEDs, as well as components of RC initiation systems and other weapons.
These raids were carried out within the framework of Operation Seham al-Janoub and Operation Seham al-Sharq in Shabwah and Abyan governorates, targeting terrorist groups, mainly AQAP, in southern Yemen. AQAP’s counterattacks, dubbed Operation Seham al-Haq by the group, suggest AQAP has regained significant strength in recent years, enabling it to carry out multiple attacks within a short period of time.
