Visual documentation published since the end of August 2022, and throughout September 2022, suggests standard units of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as its affiliated units have diversified their use of improvised ammunition for their weaponized quadcopters. While most of the evidence shows the Russian forces continue to use various modification methods for the F-1 hand grenade, increased documentation of VOG-17 grenades with improvised and 3D printed tails, as well as a less common improvised bomblet, has been posted on pro-Russia media channels on various platforms. In comparison to the Ukrainian side, the evolvement of improvised ammunition for weaponized UAVs on the Russian side is notably slower. Military units affiliated with Russia tend to rely on standard weapons supplied by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Additionally, unlike the Ukrainian side, Russian military units do not enjoy the same extent of assistance from the home front industry, engineers, and entrepreneurs. The continued and vast utilization of weaponized quadcopters by both sides demonstrates the evolvement of drone-infantry synergy in the tactics currently employed by standard armies.
