On January 22, 2023, at 1:25 AM, a work accident occurred when a militant was attempting to plant an IED at a pumping station at the Suan Si Muang Dam in Yala Province, in southern Thailand. The militant was injured and there were no other casualties and minimal damage was caused to the water pumping station.
The blast formed a small crater measuring 20 centimeters in diameter. It was estimated the IED contained between five and ten kilograms of explosive material.
