Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, fixed-wing armed UAVs fitted with custom-made HE payloads produced by private companies have been employed by both sides in the conflict. Albeit less accurate than rotary-wing armed UAS, other attack functions make these fixed-wing UAS attractive. The fixed-wing UAS is usually deployed when there is concern about sending human combatants to engage the enemy at close ranges. Additionally, it is used to harass, undermine operations, and stall the advances of enemy forces. One of the interesting aspects of these types of UAS in the Ukrainian theater of operations is the use of custom-made HE ammunition: the Russian OFSP-08-A133, and the Ukrainian UB-75.
