In March 2023, several unmanned ground vehicles weaponized with anti-tank mines, anti-personnel mines and RPG launchers were showcased and tested in Ukraine. The phenomena of weaponized UGVs fitted with cameras that can be remotely guided and initiated has gained popularity in recent years, and these weapons have been documented in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Myanmar. However interesting and innovative they may be, these weaponized UGVs are very unlikely to provide a significant tactical advantage, especially when compared to extremely common armed commercial UAVs and improvised loitering munitions that deliver explosive payloads to a target, either dispensed from above, or guided by the operator directly into the target, with high precision.
