Since September 1, 2022, the commander of a Ukrainian UAV unit that operates in Bakhmut has showcased and analyzed case studies from the unit’s combat tactics, so other UAV operators can learn and improve their operations. Particularly interesting is the TTP of prioritizing high value targets, as a means of drawing in enemy first responders and evacuation units, and then targeting them as well. In recent months, the commander of this unit has showcased the vast arsenal of improvised explosive payloads, modified munitions and other weapons used by the unit. The analysis of TTP case studies and their publication for tutorial purposes by a frontline active combat unit is yet another unique aspect of weaponized UAV warfare in the Ukrainian theater, which is by far the most innovative, diverse and intensive area of improvised UAV activity in the world at this time.
