In June 2023, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Force revealed in Iranian state media their testing of the large Arbaeen quadcopter, designated for combat and other missions. The Arbaeen is identical to armed UAVs documented in attacks in Syria and Iraq, including high-profile attacks in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone. The documentation of the testing of this UAV by the IRGC substantiates other evidence that together, corroborates the claim Iranian proxy forces in the Middle East are supplied with technology, especially weaponized UAVs, by the IRGC. Indeed, the proliferation of Iranian UAV technology has expanded beyond the Middle East, with Arbaeen quadcopters recently showcased at international military conventions.
