TGA0739 – Armed UAV Ammunition Sourced from the Serbian Military Industry Appears in Sudan

On April 15, 2023, violent armed clashes erupted in Sudan between rival factions of the Army. The capital, Khartoum, has emerged as the epicenter of the conflict, with airstrikes hitting populated areas. The conflict has spread to other parts of Sudan as well. The two main military factions battling for control of the country are the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces formerly operated by the government of Sudan, and the Sudanese Armed Forces. These rival forces are using all of the conventional weapons at their disposal, from small arms to artillery strikes and airstrikes. One of the more interesting finds by the SAF was an RSF cache with crates of Serbian defense industry manufactured munition specifically designed for weaponized rotary-wing UAVs. This documentation serves as an example of the popularization and proliferation of weaponized rotary-wing UAVs and the standardization of ammunition used with them.
