On August 16, 2023, the Federal Security Service of Russia announced the capture of a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage unit in Starodubsky District, in Bryansk Oblast, Russia, close to Russian-Ukrainian border. The day before, another group was captured in the same area. The items seized from the sabotage group members on August 16 included foreign and Western made weapons, different charges, communication and navigation devices, and quadcopters marked with Russian symbols.
