On July 29, 2023, a large explosion occurred at a fireworks warehouse in Su-ngai Kolok District, in Narathiwat Province, in southern Thailand, on the border with Malaysia. At least 12 people were killed in the blast and dozens more were injured. In addition, many buildings and vehicles in the vicinity were damaged. The explosion appears to have been caused by welding during construction work on the building.
Over the years, there have been many cases of explosions in fireworks warehouses and other places where they are manufactured or stored, as well as in vehicles used to transport fireworks in various countries around the world. In this report we will review some examples of these types of events.
