On October 1, 2023, two members of a Kurdistan Workers’ Party-aligned group carried out an attack against the complex of the Turkish Interior Ministry in Ankara. The various weapons found at the scene suggest a more complex attack had been unfolding but was thwarted, in part thanks to the various security measures at the entrance, which forced one of the assailants to initiate his PBIED. This was the first Kurdish suicide bombing attack carried out in Turkey in several years, possibly indicating a comeback of this TTP.
