According to the publication, this device was used to initiate a directional fragmentation charge, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuring three others.
On February 21, 2024, a file outlining an unfamiliar initiation system named Z02, purportedly used by Russian forces, was published on a Russian Telegram channel dedicated to combat and EOD content. The document, translated from the original Ukrainian, included images of the same initiation system found in Sumy, describing it as a sensor-based initiation system for optional RC initiation with different sensor attachments available, either seismic or PIR.
