On March 1, 2024, an IED initiated at the Rameshwaram Café in Bengaluru, southern India. Ten people were injured, including customers and restaurant employees. Remains of a fabric strap of a black backpack, an initiation system and bolts and nuts fragmentation were found at the scene. Based on the security camera records, it is estimated that the IED was placed about an hour earlier and was initiated by a timer. According to the findings, it appears that the IED components are similar to the remains of an IED from a work accident that happened in Mangaluru in November 2022. While the investigation is still in progress, it points to the involvement of the Islamic State in carrying out the attack.
