Due to a shortage of non-rechargeable batteries for the FGM-148 Javelin man-portable anti-tank system, in early 2024, a Ukrainian combatant published a detailed tutorial showing how to modify the Javelin’s non-rechargeable batteries into chargeable batteries. The modification requires the addition of several commercial components that must be linked to the main PCB component of the Javelin’s battery. Modifications such as these can be beneficial for actors who possess FGM-148 AT systems, including actors who managed to capture such systems on the battlefield but lack access to supply chains that can provide them with the standard, non-rechargeable batteries.
