On March 25, 2024, it was announced that the Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency had seized a large quantity of weapons smuggled from Iran to the West Bank. The seized items included various explosives, unique IEDs, mines, RPG launchers and anti-tank rounds, grenades and firearms. The attempts to smuggle quality weaponry from Iran into the West Bank have been ongoing for a long time, with the aim of equipping local operatives with quality ammunition and weapons to carry out attacks with deadly consequences, compared to attacks carried out with improvised ammunition, which currently constitute most of the operatives’ capabilities.
