In the course of the Russia-Ukraine war, we have witnessed the widespread use of weaponized UAVs – both armed drones and small drone-based improvised loitering munitions. During this time, we have observed the accelerated development of initiation systems by the Ukrainian forces for these UAVs, whose purpose is to improve the reliability of the systems, while adding safety features for the operator. In recent months, we have identified an increasing use of electronic printed circuits that combine various safety measures for armament, alongside self-destruct mechanisms used in the event of a failure in the initiation system, for safety purposes. These measures are integrated into the printed circuits adapted for use with the weaponized UAVs.
