Mobius 48/2024 – Iranian Missile and Loitering Munition Attack on Israel

During the night between April 13 and 14, 2024, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a large-scale attack against the State of Israel, in which ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and loitering munitions were employed. The attack, dubbed Operation True Promise by Iran, was thwarted for the most part by Israel’s multilateral aerial defense systems, with international cooperation, whose activation that night was dubbed Iron Shield by Israel. Notwithstanding, several ballistic missiles landed in southern Israel, impacting the Nevatim Air Force Base in the Negev Desert, which was one of Iran’s stated targets of the attack.
This was the first large-scale aerial attack carried out against Israel directly by the IRGC, which employed known ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as Shahed-136 loitering munitions.
