On August 15, 2024, which marked India’s 78th Independence Day, the United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent published a statement claiming they had planted 25 IEDs in different locations across the state of Assam, in northeast India, as an act of “armed resistance.” According to the statement, this operation was made public after a “technical malfunction” impeded it. By late August, some of the IEDs had still not been neutralized, possibly because their locations are still unknown.
