In recent months, Russian forces have discovered a number of light, fixed-wing aircraft modified for use as weaponized unmanned aerial vehicles. Electronics and camera equipment installed in the cockpit of the aircraft enabled them to be used as unmanned aircraft. The evidence suggests these unmanned platforms are armed with large explosive payloads. Furthermore, the light aircraft have been equipped with an improvised initiation system of a known series featuring a magnetic field sensor and self-destruct feature. Light aircraft and airplanes of similar proportions are being increasingly modified and deployed against targets inside Russia to deliver larger explosive payloads, alongside the use of smaller fixed-wing loitering munitions that carry compatible explosive payloads.
