Mobius report 78/2024 – Lebanese Hezbollah IEDs and Weapons, 2024

On October 1, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces launched a ground operation in Lebanon with the aim of driving Hezbollah away from its northern border. The staggering quantity of weapons seized in the course of the (ongoing) IDF military operation included numerous types of rockets, anti-tank weapons, mines, communication and observation equipment, as well as a variety of IEDs of different types and sizes, with different purposes. In addition, dedicated initiation systems were recovered, the most common of which was a PIR sensor-based system for arming and initiating IEDs. The destruction of Hezbollah’s infrastructure in southern Lebanon continues as of the time of writing, and large quantities of the recovered weapons have been transferred to Israel for research and study purposes.
