Since the end of 2024, increased documentation of small incendiary payloads attached to large rotary-wing UAVs have been found by Russian forces in the Ukrainian arena. These types of large rotary-wing UAVs are usually deployed by Ukrainian forces as armed UAVs with large payloads. This suggests the small incendiary payload is primarily intended for the self-destruction of the UAV and its data, preventing the enemy from using the information to trace the UAV’s launch points, flight paths, target coordinates, or other critical intelligence.
