Between January 2025 and May 2025, multiple reports emerged online describing “military parachute” attacks in central-western Myanmar. These vehicles were, in fact, powered parachutes armed with modified mortar bombs, reportedly operated by the Armed Forces of Myanmar or their allied groups. Each armed PPC is capable of carrying up to eight mortar rounds.
If the Armed Forces of Myanmar is indeed behind these deployments, the appearance of powered parachutes in a combat role marks a notable shift in its tactical approach. This development is particularly striking given the more advanced unmanned weapons revealed in their arsenal as recently as November 2024.
