During May-June 2025, extensive documentation emerged detailing the seizure of weapons shipments and the disruption of their smuggling from Syria to Hezbollah forces in Lebanon. These seizures, made both within Syrian territory and inside Lebanon, point to an intensifying trend in recent months of smuggling attempts via or originating from Syria. Said efforts have largely concentrated on the border-adjacent governorates of Homs, Tartus, and rural Damascus.
The documented smuggling cases focused primarily on firearms, various types of rockets, anti-tank missiles, MANPADS, and UAVs, in addition to less well-known munition items, such as different types of rocket fuzes, including proximity fuzes.
