Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the use of all kinds of ammunition with armed UAVs has been documented, most of which were fragmentation bomblets with different point-detonating nose fuzes.
On July 7, 2022, a Ukrainian mechanical engineer who volunteers with the Ukrainian Army posted in an open Facebook group. The post featured a mechanism that constitutes an improvised base fuse for a bomblet intended to be used as ammunition for an armed UAV, representing a simple solution to the base-detonating fuses required in hollow anti-tank warheads, which must be initiated from the base to hit armored vehicles. In the documentation, the fuse is connected to the body of an RKG-3 anti-tank grenade, which is released from an R18 armed octocopter fitted with a payload release mechanism specially modified to carry these bomblets.
Although bomblets based on RKG-3 grenade warheads are common in the Ukrainian arena, other anti-tank munition items, such as warheads based on KZ-6 demolition charges and PG-7 warheads have also been documented.
