Mobius report 67/2024 – Ukrainian Fixed-Wing Loitering Munition Attacks

On the night of September 10, 2024, nine Russian regions were subjected to a large-scale attack by Ukrainian loitering munitions. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported 144 UAVs were intercepted – some of which crashed into apartment buildings in Ramenskoye, in Moscow Oblast. This Ukrainian UAV attack was one of the most massive since the start of the war.

According to documentation and reports, the attacks incorporated “Lyutyi” long-range fixed-wing Ukrainian loitering munitions.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine currently operates a large number of fixed-wing UAVs, some for intelligence-gathering missions and others for short and long-range attacks. The Ukrainian UAV arsenal today includes many different types and models of aircraft.
