In June 2026, a member of an Islamic State chatroom on Rocket.Chat shared a link to a Hamas-affiliated Telegram channel containing manuals and infographics intended for manufacturing IEDs and HME. While most of the manuals are old and well-known, the channel also shared infographics describing the construction of a small unmanned ground vehicle with DTMF-decoder-based remote control and the modification of a Nokia 3310 mobile phone for RC initiation of IEDs. The concepts of using a mobile phone’s vibration motor as an initiation system for IEDs and employing robots as IED delivery systems reflect historical trends. That said, the guide contains major flaws and inaccuracies in its imagery. These flaws suggest the images may have been AI-generated, as they differ substantially from genuine components. Although it would be very difficult to construct a functional IED initiation or delivery systems using this guide alone, the material provides general concepts that could inform future experimentation.
