Since violent armed clashes erupted in Sudan on April 15, 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces have occasionally used Non-Standard Technical Vehicles mounted with unguided air-to-surface rocket launching pods, originally intended for use with aircraft. While technicals mounted with various weapons have been used in Sudan for years, during August 2023, less common documentation was published in social media, by what appears to be an Islamist militia that cooperates with the Sudanese Armed Forces against their rivals from the Rapid Support Forces militias. The documentation includes the manufacturing process and use of NSTVs equipped with unguided air-to-surface aircraft rockets. These types of NSTVs were seen in use in many other conflicts in Libya, Syria, Afghanistan and more recently in Ukraine.
