In April 2025, a Russian Telegram channel affiliated with a group that produces anti-drone shelters published a field manual for an anti-drone curtain: a low-cost, rope-based barrier designed to entangle approaching rotary-wing loitering munitions before they reach their target. The device is intended to protect positions, equipment, and small structures (e.g., rural homes).
Ukrainian forces have employed analogous rope-curtain techniques. The method is simple to emplace, inexpensive, and has demonstrated operational utility, particularly when integrated with other countermeasures against weaponized UAVs.
