During 2025, several variants of a new Iranian loitering munition launched from a canister were documented, building on earlier canister-launched systems such as the Meraj-521, as well as the Shahin and Sanjar systems launched from naval platforms. Among the footage disseminated by Iran was a loitering munition launched from a torpedo – likely from a submarine – using the torpedo itself as the launch container. In initial documentation from January 2025, a loitering munition launched from a large canister was presented under the name “Rezvan.” Since then, the system has appeared under multiple additional names and designations, including “Ra’ad-2,” “LM-70,” and “Rezvan-50,” reflecting configurations intended for launch from different platforms and at varying ranges. In its ground-launched configuration, the canister-launched design enables rapid field deployment by a single soldier or a small team.
