Between December 2025 and March 2026, a series of aerial operations in Chin State, in western Myanmar, highlighted a coordinated effort by anti-State Administration Council militias to disrupt the regime’s administrative and strategic infrastructure. On March 20, 2026, Chin Defense Force-Hakha reportedly conducted a nine-UAV attack targeting the State Parliament and adjacent government buildings in Hakha, marking a notable escalation in operational capability. The strike reportedly disrupted a SAC-backed swearing-in ceremony and neutralized a signal jammer positioned on the building’s roof, indicating an ability to target protected nodes within the regime’s political apparatus.
This operation follows several months of intensified drone activity across Chin State. In February 2026, the Chin National Defence Force reportedly employed FPV drone-based improvised loitering munitions to halt a Myanmar Armed Forces ground offensive, while earlier operations attributed to AIF Myanmar targeted “strategic assets” during the Battle of Falam in late 2025. Collectively, these incidents indicate an increasing reliance on weaponized drones by resistance elements to challenge SAC governance mechanisms and territorial control.
