IEDs with Similar Components Documented in Southern Thailand

Jul 31, 2016

Between May and July 2016, a noteworthy number of attacks hit restive southern Thailand, in addition to numerous thwarted attacks where IEDs were seized and neutralized by the Thai police and army. The incidents were focused around the three provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani in Thailand's troubled south with its Muslim majority population that is emphatically opposed to the ruling Buddhist government. The IED components documented by the security forces are practically identical, comprising TYT transmitters, PCBs for DTMF decoders, cut metal rebar fragmentation and more.
