In the course of the Iron Swords/Al-Aqsa Flood War that is being waged in the Gaza Strip, in December 2023, documentation of “Ababil” projectiles appeared in a large weapons seizure. After that, in May and August 2024, documentation appeared of the use of “Ababil” projectiles of this type by the military arm of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization. This is a unique new item and appears to be a hybrid weapon with characteristics of both a rocket and mortar bomb.
