Mobius report 43/2026 – Geran-2 Warheads Update

The Russian Geran-2 loitering munition continues to serve as one of Russia’s primary strike weapons against Ukraine, particularly in attacks targeting critical infrastructure and populated areas, including the capital, Kyiv.

The evolution of the Geran-2, which originated as the Iranian Shahed-136 loitering munition, has been documented in numerous Möbius reports in recent years, covering its transition to local production in Russia and the development of its various warhead configurations.

This report provides a comprehensive overview of the principal warheads currently employed on the Geran-2, with particular emphasis on the approximately 90 kg warheads now in widespread use, including HE, incendiary, and fragmentation variants.
