Between June and August 2026, Ukrainian authorities documented several cases of Russian intelligence-directed IED attacks and planned operations in different areas across Ukraine.
The cases involved Ukrainian agents recruited by Russian intelligence services, primarily through Telegram channels, personal contacts, and offers of financial compensation, who were tasked with targeting Ukrainian military personnel, vehicles, gas stations, and areas near administrative and security facilities.
The types of thwarted attacks represent various attack characteristics recently observed, targeting infrastructure, individuals, or the general population, and utilizing either IEDs or IIDs.
