Between September 1 and September 16, 2026, several Houthi FPV drone-based improvised loitering munitions were recovered or downed across multiple fronts in Yemen. The documented systems display recurring construction features, including impact-activated limit switches, green printed circuit boards (PCBs) with red-light indicators, and similarly configured cylindrical warheads. In one documented example, an electric detonator was visible, while another system incorporated a fiber-optic spool.
The repeated appearance of similar components across geographically separated incidents indicates a degree of commonality in Houthi FPV munition construction. This report examines the documented airframes, initiation components and warhead configurations, while placing their use within the broader context of recent Houthi military activity in southwestern Yemen.
