Mobius report 89/2023 – User-Filled Warheads for FPV Drone-Based Loitering Munitions, Ukraine

On October 19, 2023, documentation of the Ukrainian production of improvised warheads for FPV-type improvised loitering munitions started to appear. The warheads are manufactured and delivered without explosives, to be filled by the end users in the battle zone. After the first appearances were published on a Russian Telegram channel related to military engineering, a catalog published on behalf of Ukrainian Shock Wave Dynamics (SWD) was posted, describing in detail three types of improvised warheads – two DFFCs and one EFP design.

The production of different types of warheads – DFFCs, EFPs, or conical shaped charges, without explosives, intended for final assembly and filling with explosives in the combat arena, is known around the world, but is innovative and convenient for the manufacturers in the Ukrainian arena.
