Mobius 11/2024 – The Use of Unmanned Ground Vehicles in Ukraine

The use of unmanned ground vehicles by both Ukrainian and Russian forces during the war in Ukraine has significantly increased in recent months. Just like armed UAVs and improvised loitering munitions, unmanned ground platforms are produced by various organizations, including volunteer groups and military personnel in field conditions. The UGVs serve multiple functions, including reconnaissance, logistical delivery of ammunition, food, and medical supplies to soldiers, evacuation of wounded soldiers, and as RC weapon platforms. Most significantly, UGVs are deployed on the battlefield as unmanned platforms weaponized with explosives, alongside their role in conducting mining and mine clearance operations.
