TGA0777 – Zircon 3M22 Missile Attack, Kyiv, Ukraine

On February 7, 2024, evidence of the aftermath of a Russian missile strike on Kyiv indicated the potential use of the 3M22 Zircon supersonic combustion ramjet-powered cruise missile. Analysis of fragments from the missile revealed markings suggesting, with a high degree of probability, the use of this missile type. According to various reports, the Russian Armed Forces have only recently begun deploying the Zircon missile. This attack represents the first instance in which components of this missile have been examined and displayed by a non-Russian entity. This attack is a significant development in the Russian-Ukrainian war and by examining the evidence, preliminary assessments can be made regarding Russian technologies capable of producing less predictable or unpredictable ballistic trajectories.
