In early October 2025, detailed documentation of an improvised metal-cased PMD-type anti-personnel mine, reportedly deployed by Ukrainian forces via UAV, was circulated on a Russian military-focused Telegram channel. The mine features a modified mechanism, where the T-shaped firing pin is secured to the upper cover using improvised hooks. This configuration, which connects the initiation mechanism directly to the cover, complicates the disarming process.
Less-detailed field documentation of similar improvised PMD-type mines suggests this type of modification has been encountered previously by Russian forces.
