Evidence, the Iranian authorities’ investigation, and the claim of responsibility indicate the use of two PBIEDs. The investigation suggests involvement from Tajik Islamic State Khorasan Province elements in the planning, preparation, and implementation of the attack, highlighting the group’s expanding threat and effectiveness beyond Afghanistan and areas adjacent to the Durand Line.
