During May 2025, documentation of multiple modified large quadcopters employed by the Rapid Support Forces surfaced online after they had been seized by the Sudanese Armed Forces. Among them were two large quadcopters carrying two RPG-7 launchers modified for remote firing. While weaponized UAVs are becoming increasingly common in Sudan, these events mark the first documentation of a rocket-launching drone in this arena. As both sides of the conflict in Sudan are heavily backed by foreign state actors, this system could be manufactured for the RSF via aid from such sources.
