During October-November 2025, documentation began to appear, showing a newly observed incendiary warhead fitted to the Geran-2 loitering munition.
This new variant incorporates an OFBCh-2 bursting charge and a UZ-2 impact fuze — both known components used in Russian Gerbera long-range, multi-role drone payloads.
In parallel, another new Geran-2 warhead configuration emerged, featuring a fragmentation-heavy front section. This coincides with the continued trend of dual-warhead payloads on the Geran-2 platform and the dispersal of submunitions deployed en route to the primary target.
The growing variety of warhead configurations on Geran-2 UAVs and the use of new payload combinations indicates Russia’s Geran-2 warhead development efforts remain ongoing, with continued construction and testing aimed at achieving optimal target effects while complicating Ukrainian EOD and security forces’ response.
